Football

When I was playing football at aftercare, I had two interceptions and one touchdown for the team. The second interception was awesome because it came after a long throw to Kevin. Some guys thought I didn't catch it but Fernando thought I did and so he called it an interception.

It was fun to get my first first touchdown. It was astonishing to me that I was able to do that. After the touchdown, my teammates chest bumped me.

Fernando had two great interceptions and two epic touchdowns. We won the game. We don't play by NFL rules so the score was 4 - 2. It was a great game!

ps. Here's a great joke:

You need Monet to make the Van Gogh!

NASA

NASA is a branch of the United States government that is in Cape Canaveral, Florida. When I went to The USS Intrepid, I saw a space capsule that belonged to NASA. When I was in Washington, DC I went into one of the space capsules.

NASA has an international space station up in the sky. You can see it at night if you look from a window. Every night I look out my window and see the space station. It's pretty cool because one time I think I saw a spaceman on it.

My dad has a NASA App on his iPhone that tracks all the different space missions.

If you want to find out more about NASA, click on their YouTube page. It also has its own Internet page.

Sleepovers

I had a sleepover last night with my friend Jack. His mom picked me up at aftercare and then we had a party at the park with his friends. We played a game and I was an army man. Jake and I were fighting Jack and Ian. We were trying to kill the other team. Jake and I won.

After that we went to Jack's house and had mini-tacos for dinner. Then we watched the world premiere of Star Wars season three - the Clone Wars. It was awesome!

After that we went to bed.

For breakfast we had cinnamon buns. They were fantastic and so were the tacos. I hope I have another sleepover soon.

Labor Day Bike Races

I raced in one kid's bike race in Basking Ridge today and I came in second place in my heat. I felt great about that because it was my first time racing.

After the race I saw a stunt show by Jeff Lenosky.

It was so cool because he signed my helmet and a picture of him on his bike jumping a fence. I saw him go up a very steep ramp and get to the roof of his trailer. He went on a two inch wide balance beam that was four feet high and then for his grand finale he jumped off a ten foot high balance beam over a kid and landed it perfectly.

Whoever is out there reading this, go to Basking Ridge on Labor Day for bike races - you will really like it!

The Last Day of School

We had the end of the year party last Monday in my classroom and it was fun because we got to make ice cream sundaes. Mine had vanilla with Gummi Bears, M&Ms and sprinkles and it tasted very good. I enjoyed making it and eating it.

Tuesday was Game and Gum Day. I brought Battleship and I got to eat chocolate instead of gum. I can't chew gum because I have a palate expander in my mouth.

On the last day of school, we watched movies and we had free day in the gym. The gym was awesome because we got to play Hideaway and Pinball. How you play Hideaway is there is one thrower and four mats so you hide behind the mats and there are gaps so you try to run to the next mat and try to not get hit. If you do get hit, you have to be a thrower for the rest of the game. How you play Pinball is ... it is just like Dodge Ball but with pins and so the point is when somebody gets hit they get put in is "Jail. " The whole point is to knock down the other team's pins and if you do, your team wins. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_dodgeball_variations

I am going to miss David but we can still have play dates over the summer! Good bye Mrs. Collins.

David

David is my best friend. He is seven years-old, in second grade and he is funny. I met him on the first day of second grade. We are in the same class and we sit near each other. David has two brothers one is older than the other but both are younger than David.

Last Saturday David and I went to a birthday party and played laser tag. We were on the same team. In laser tag you wear a vest and have to try to shoot other people's vests with a special gun. When you get shot, your vest turns off and you have to wait until it turns on to shoot again. It was really fun to play laser tag with David because we were good at it and we got a lot of people out.

I dedicated the book I wrote in class to David because I like him a lot. I hope that we stay in the same class next year because he is a good friend to me.

Bedwell Boardwalk

I went to the Bedwell Boardwalk yesterday. The Bedwell Boardwalk is a fundraiser that raises money for my school. There are a whole bunch of fun rides. The best ride is the one that goes around in circles while riders can spin the car in another circle at the same time. They had a Fireman themed ride and the ride was so much fun because I got to climb up to the top like I was climbing up a ladder and then I got to slide down. There were also games outside and I got to win leis, a bracelet and some fuzzy people. Mom bought me tickets for the basket raffle and I put mine in for the Yankees basket. I hope I win! Mom baked a cake for the Cakewalk and Mrs. Collins made tasty brownies for a fundraiser that helps Doctors Without Borders. I really enjoyed Mrs. Collins' brownies (Can I have the recipe?) I am glad I went the the Boardwalk because it was really fun!

Cub Scouts

I was a Tiger and then I was a Wolf but since last night I am a Bear. A Bear is the last rank before Webelos in Cub Scouts.

Last night my dad took me to the Campfire Move-Up ceremony. At the campfire I had S'mores -- S'mores are roasted marshmallows with chocolate and two graham crackers. They look like a sandwich but not exactly -- and I got my new rank. I had to do work to get my new rank. I worked selling popcorn, I made a car for the Pinewood Derby and I made a rocket. I also had to learn about birds.

I like Cub Scouts because I get to do activities and I have made lots of friends. If your son is interested in this, call me and I will try to get him in a pack.

Penguin Ice Cream

One of my favorite places in town is Penguin Ice Cream. It is owned by Mr. Och and his wife. Mrs. Och teaches third grade at my school and they go to my church. I go to Penguin because they have the ice cream that I like to eat. They serve me the ice cream in a cone and they give me a Swedish Fish on the top. Mr. Och told me that the Governor of NJ has been there twice. A professional football player on the NY Jets and a professional NBA player have been there too. You should go to Penguin because it is great and they give you a choice of staying there to eat or you can take the ice cream to go.

Baseball

I am on a baseball team. My team's name is the Bees and my dad is a coach. The nice thing is that one of my friends is on the team. We play two times a week but sometimes there is a rainout. On Saturday, we were playing "outs." That means that if the batter's ball gets caught or he gets tagged, he is out and he can not play any more. My favorite position to play is catcher because you get to be behind the batter. Our next game is this Thursday.

My homework

For homework I had to write a letter using my ten words. My letter was written to President Obama. Here is what I wrote (can you guess what my words are?):

Dear President Obama:

You've been president for over a year. I think they've been nice to you in the White House. We're hoping you visit New Jersey soon. If you come, they'll help you with your work and you'll have a fun time with your daughters. I bet they're very playful even though we've never met. You mustn't forget Mrs. Obama and Bo!

Did people vote for you in Texas? After you visit New Jersey, you should go to Utah.

Your pal,

Liam

Before bed

Hi Mrs. Collins where ever you are. I just started a blog so please respond back and people out there, please write comments. I like all of you people out there. I just got back from sparring and I took a shower. I had ice cream for dessert and now I am going to bed. Bye!

Liam wanted to try this

Yesterday on the way home from school Liam asked if we could start a blog. I was a bit taken aback that a 2nd grader would want to to that but I told him that I would start one and here we are.
